Moreover, even before the start of the second phase of CPEC, Pakistan was facing an economic crisis.
Experts believe China can lift Pakistan out of poverty if it wants to, and there have been some signs of this. However, it is currently on a wait-and-see basis considering the political situation in Pakistan. China is waiting for the situation to clear up and can make a decision after the election.
