Veteran actor Amarnath passed away

Veteran actor of Indian Bengali cinema Amarnath passed away. He breathed his last in Mumbai on Thursday (May 25). He was 90 years old.

According to an Indian media, Amarnath was suffering from various diseases related to old age. This illness increased from last February. He was hospitalized for seven days. As the physical condition did not improve, the doctors asked to take him home. Finally he died in his sleep at his home in Mumbai.

Amarnath was away from acting for a long time. He was spending his time happily in Mumbai with his wife, son Chandranath, daughter-in-law and grandson. However, after going into hiding, no one knew about him.

Amarnath was born on September 11, 1933 in Calcutta. Amarnath grew up in a filmy family. So I was inclined towards drama and movies since my childhood. His father is an actor. Harendranath Mukherjee. Amarnath’s maternal uncle was famous not-actor Johar Ganguly. Dada Shuben Mukherjee was also a radio and film actor. In his youth, Tarun Kumar of Bhavanipur, Ravi Ghosh, joined the drama troupe through his friendship with Jochan Dastidar; He has acted on stage as well as on radio.

Later, Amarnath entered the film. He made his debut on the silver screen by acting in the movie ‘Deshbandhu Chittaranjan’. The movie ‘Megh Kalo’ was released in the same year. Suchitra Sen was the heroine of this movie. And Amarnath was in the supporting role. Amarnath’s performance in the movie ‘Mouchak’ with Uttamkumar is still indelible. He played the role of Suchitra Sen’s elder brother in the movie ‘Haar Maana Haar’. Lalita Chatterjee played the role of Amarnath’s wife in the movie. After that he was seen in many Bengali movies. The notable Bengali movies he has acted in are – ‘First Promise’, ‘Mouchak’, ‘Chinnapatra’, ‘Stri’, ‘Basant Bilap’ etc.

In 1975 Shakti Samantha made her debut in Bollywood by acting in the movie ‘Amanush’. Through this, Amarnath’s fate in Hindi cinema opens. And for this reason he stayed in Mumbai. His notable Hindi movies are ‘Dhan Daulat’, ‘Mahabali Hanuman’, ‘Disco Dancer’ etc.
