India’s U19 women’s cricket team made a strong comeback in the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 on Sunday after losing against Australia on Saturday. India beat Sri Lanka in the second Super 6 match to keep their hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive. India won by 7 wickets against Sri Lanka. Team India won this match in the 8th over as India needed a solid run rate that they could work on to clinch a place in the semi-finals.

Indian captain Shafali Verma won the toss and chose to bowl against Sri Lanka. India showed in the first two overs that this game will be theirs as Sri Lanka lost 2 wickets for 8 runs. After that Parshvi Chopra looked on fire as she took 4 wickets for 5 runs. Mannat Kashyap scored 2 goals. Captain Vishmi Gunaratne scored 25 for Sri Lanka. Umaya Ratnayake scored 13 runs. Apart from them, no one could cross the double figure. The entire team could only score 59 runs for the loss of 9 wickets after playing 20 overs.

After cricket, New Zealand also shattered India’s dream in hockey, and then thousands of hearts were broken.

On the other hand, the Indian team reached the target of 60 runs in 7.2 overs as the Indian team knew that a clear run rate advantage could get them a semi-final ticket. Somya Tiwary scored 28 runs in 15 balls for India while captain Shefali Verma scored 15 runs in 10 balls. 13 runs came from Shweta Sehrawat’s knock. 3 wickets fell in this match for India and Devmi Vihanga took all three wickets. With this victory, India’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals remained intact. However, it has not yet been decided which team will play in the semi-finals.
