Congress alleges by writing a letter to the Chairman of Rajya Sabha
The Congress has written a letter to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha citing PM Narendra Modi’s speech during the motion of thanks on the President’s address. A proposal for breach of privilege has been presented by the Congress on the basis of PM Modi’s statement on Congress leaders during his speech. In this notice sent to the Congress, it has been alleged that PM Modi’s statement is derogatory to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Both the Congress leaders are sitting MPs of the Lok Sabha.

In the letter written to the Chairman of Rajya Sabha, the Congress has also included the statement of PM Narendra Modi. According to the letter, PM Modi had said, “I am very surprised that Nehru ji’s name must have been forgotten by us, and if it is forgotten, we will also correct it… (Interruptions)… He was the first Prime Minister, but I do not understand why any person of his generation is afraid of keeping the surname of Nehru ji? what a shame What is the shame in having Nehru surname?… (Interruptions)… Such a great person is not acceptable to you, the family is not acceptable…”
BJP attacks Rahul Gandhi over London statement
On the other hand, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is also adamant on demanding an apology from Rahul Gandhi for the statement made in London. BJP President JP Nadda lashed out at Congress and Rahul Gandhi on Friday morning. He said, “Rahul Gandhi, when you demand interference of another country in the internal affairs of India, what is your intention? Seeking interference in India’s internal affairs by any other country is an attack on India’s sovereignty. I want to ask Rahul Gandhi, what is his intention behind interference in India’s domestic affairs from Europe and America?”
