New Delhi. President Draupadi Murmu on Wednesday approved 412 gallantry awards, including six Kirti Chakras and 15 Shaurya Chakras, on the eve of the 74th Republic Day. Four of the six Kirti Chakras have been awarded posthumously. Two Shaurya Chakras have been awarded posthumously.
In fact, the Kirti Chakra is India’s second highest peacetime gallantry award after the Ashoka Chakra. The Shaurya Chakra is the country’s third highest peacetime gallantry award. Kirti Chakra awardees include Major Shubhang of Dogra Regiment of 62 Battalion Rashtriya Rifles and Naik Jitendra Singh of Rajput Regiment of 44 Battalion of Rashtriya Rifles, according to information provided by the Defense Ministry. Rohit Kumar, sub-inspector Deepak Bhardwaj, head constable Sodhi Narayan and Shravan Kashyap of the Jammu and Kashmir Police have received the Kirti Chakra award posthumously.

Mudasir Ahmed Sheikh received Shaurya Chakra award posthumously
Major Aditya Bhadauria of the Kumaon Regiment of the 50th Battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles, Captain Arun Kumar of the Kumaon Regiment of the 13th Battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles, Captain Yudhveer Sinbagh of the 9th Battalion of the Mechanized Infantry of the Rashtriya Rifles and the 9th Battalion of the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) of the Army Captain Rakesh TR has been awarded the Shaurya Chakra award. Naik Jasbir Singh of the 6th Battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles and Constable Mudasir Ahmed Sheikh of the Jammu and Kashmir Police have been posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra.

Lance Naik Vikas Chaudhary of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, Group Captain Yogeshwar Krishnarao Kandalkar (Pilot), Flight Lieutenant Tejpal, Squadron Leader Sandeep Kumar Jhajharia, Anand Singh (IAF Garud), Sunil Kumar (IAF), Assistant Commandant Satendra Singh (MHA), Deputy Commandant Vicky Kumar Pandey (MHA) and Constable Vijay Oraon have also been awarded Shaurya Chakra.

126 Vishisht Seva Medals awarded
One Sena Medal (gallantry), 92 Sena Medals (four posthumously), one Nao Sena Medal (gallantry), seven Vayu Sena Medals (gallantry) and 29 Param Vishisht Seva Medals have also been awarded. Awarded three Uttam Yudh Seva Medals, once Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, 52 Ati Vishisht Seva Medals, 10 Yudh Seva Medals, four times Sena Medal (devotion to duty) and 36 Sena Medals (devotion to duty). He has also been awarded the Nao Sena Medal twice (devotion to duty, posthumously), 11 Nao Sena Medals (three posthumously), 14 Vayu Sena Medals, twice the Vishisht Seva Medal and 126 Vishisht Seva Medals.
