Every ancient province has its own legend and custom. One such province was Mithilanchal, which includes cities like Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Munger, Madhubani and Muzaffarpur in present-day Bihar. Darbhanga, located near the Bagmati river, once used to be the cultural capital of Mithilanchal. It is said that Janakpur city used to be the center of power of this province for years and this province was once ruled by King Janak.
center of knowledge and culture
Time changed, cities changed, governance also changed, but one thing has not changed even today, and that is that the cultural heritage of this province is infinite, grand, which even continuous attacks could not erase. Mithila has always been the center of knowledge, discussion and culture, and Mother Sita was also born here. Many sages, saints and thinkers have emerged from this Mithila, who have made their unique contribution to Indian culture and literature from time to time, and even today the name of a personality resonates in this area, whose name is Gonu Jha.
Gonu Jha’s name must have been hardly heard by the people, our historians have always talked a lot about Akbar Birbal, whether their pair was real or not, it has no concern, but they were praised so much that no other scholar Leave aside praise, it was not even left worthy of discussion. These historians did not give place to a scholar like Tenaliram himself because he does not fit their agenda.

Who was Gonu Jha?
But who was this Gonu Jha? Simply put, no auspicious work in Mithila is complete without fish, makhana and gonu jha. These scholars were well known in every household of Mithilanchal for their intelligence and mastery of humour, and in many respects they were at par with Tenaliram, if not better.
Gonu Jha, who belonged to Bharwada village of Singhwada block of present Darbhanga, was known for his efficiency and intelligence. In the 13th century, when Darbhanga province was ruled by Raja Harisingh, Gonu Jha was working in his service. Very few people know about his early life, but his intelligence and cleverness are discussed in entire Mithilanchal. Even today, many old people put their grandchildren to sleep by telling their stories.
Now there can be many reasons for this, but there is no doubt that Mithila residents have preserved these stories till now and their storytelling is also unique in itself, words will fall short to praise it.

faced every difficulty
Gonu Jha faced almost every difficulty in life. Ever since thieves, thieves, wild animals, hypocrites, blind love, crooked propagandists, even the elite class of that time, they have been brought up, but no one could defeat Gonu Jha either in a straight or a crooked way.
The most excellent lesson from Gonu Jha’s life is that he did not repent about any problem, but faced every problem with a cool mind and after a lot of thought. As if he had a panacea for every problem.
But all these solutions had one thing in common – practicality was the basis of all Gonu Jha’s solutions. Gonu Jha was very philosophical about his life. But in comparison to today’s so-called philosophies, he used to focus on destroying the problem with his philosophy. He was not just an intellectual in name but a real intellectual.

Any family, whether common or royal, can be happy only when the people around them are also happy with them.
