London: One person has been arrested in connection with Khalistan supporters vandalizing the Indian High Commission in London and removing the Indian flag from the building. Videos viral on social media showed a crowd waving a yellow Khalistan banner and a man removing the Indian flag from the first floor balcony of the building.
Two security guards were injured in the violent protests. Investigation has been started in the matter. A news agency said members of the crowd were believed to be supporters of a Sikh separatist movement. Reacting to the incident, London Mayor Sadiq Khan said in a tweet, “I condemn the disorder and vandalism at the Indian High Commission. There is no place in our city for this kind of behavior. He said the authorities have started an investigation into the matter. British High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis described the incident as outrageous and unacceptable.
