Meanwhile, BJP MP from Pratapgarh Sangamlal Gupta has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to rename the capital Lucknow as Lakhanpuri or Laxmanpuri.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, the BJP MP said that Lord Ram gave Laxmanpuri to the younger brother Laxman. But in the 18th century, Nawab Asafuddaula changed the name of Laxmanpuri to Lucknow. He urged to change the name of Lucknow to Lakhanpur or Laxmanpuri, the symbol of slavery and luxury.
