Actress Mahia Mahi was arrested from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday (March 18) afternoon in a case filed by the police under the Digital Security Act. He was then sent to the district jail on the orders of the Gazipur Metropolitan Magistrate Court. The court granted him bail after 4 hours.
Since Mahi’s arrest, many from the common people to the film industry have been reacting to it on social media. Two Bengali winning actresses Jaya Ahsan also participated in it. Mahi’s pregnancy predominates in his thoughts.
On Saturday (March 18) afternoon, the actress posted a status on her Facebook profile about the issue.
There he wrote, ‘Actress Mahia Mahi has been arrested under the Digital Security Act. Just read the news, the police applied to remand him, but the court did not grant it. Mahi is a popular actress, but like every citizen of the country, she too is subject to the law. But it is important to remember that she is now 9 months pregnant. Let her allegations be investigated, but no harm should be done to an expectant mother and her child.’
Requesting to be sensitive towards Mahi and her unborn child, Jaya said, ‘I thank the learned court for not granting remand. I would also request the police officers to be sensitive to the mother and the unborn child.
Earlier, filmmakers Shihab Shaheen, Ashfaq Nipun, Redwan Roni, actress Zahara Mitu, Parimoni, hero Adar Azad and many others joined the protest against Mahi’s arrest and the repeal of the Digital Security Act.
