Four matches were also played on the third day of the ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup being played in South Africa. India defeated UAE by a huge margin of 122 runs in Group D and registered their second consecutive win. Apart from this, In Group A, Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by 10 runs and made the second major reversal in a row. In Group D, South Africa beat Scotland by 44 runs and in Group A, Australia defeated USA by 9 wickets to register their first win.
The Indian team scored a huge score of 219/3 in 20 overs, in which captain and ‘Player of the Match’ Shafali Verma scored 78 off 34 balls and Shweta Sehrawat scored 74 off 49 balls. Richa Ghosh scored 49 runs in 29 balls. In response, the UAE team could only score 97/5.
Bangladesh scored 165/2 in 20 overs while playing first, in response to which Sri Lanka’s team could only score 155/4. Bangladesh’s Aafia Protasha was adjudged Player of the Match for scoring 53 off 43 balls. Apart from them, Shorna Akhtar scored 50 runs in 28 balls. For Sri Lanka, captain Vishami Gunaratne and Devmi Vihanga scored half-centuries but could not win the team.

South Africa scored 112/7 while playing first, in response to which Scotland’s team was all out for 68 runs in 17 overs. Kyla Reyneck (53 and 1/11) was named Player of the Match for her all-round performance. Madison Landsman also took a hat-trick from South Africa.
Usa’s team was all out for 64 runs in just 15.3 overs, in response to which Australia lost one wicket and won in the ninth over. Maggie Clarke was adjudged Player of the Match for taking 2 wickets for 14 runs.
England will face Pakistan and Zimbabwe in Group B on January 17. In Group C, New Zealand will face Ireland and West Indies will face Indonesia.
