Started political career as Communist leader
Nab Kumar Das started his career with the Student Federation of India, the student wing of the Communist Party. However, he later joined the Congress. He joined the Biju Janata Dal in 2019 after being an MLA from the Congress twice. Das, who scored a hat-trick of victories, found a place in the Naveen Patnaik government’s cabinet and was made the health minister.

Nab Kishore Das has also been very famous for his election campaign. When he first entered the election field in 2009, he called Bollywood stars in the campaign. In his first assembly election, Bollywood actors Shakti Kapoor and Asrani came to campaign. In 2019, he was made a minister in the Naveen Patnaik government.

One of the richest ministers of Odisha
Naba Kishore Das was called the most powerful minister as well as the richest minister of Odisha. However, just before the 2019 assembly elections, Das had declared immovable and movable assets worth Rs 34 crore. Naba Kishore Das, an influential leader of the Jharsuguda district of Odisha was considered a leader. Jharsuguda is the industrial area of the state. Law graduate Nab Kishore Das used to do mining and transport business as well as many other businesses.

In his declared assets, he also declared a fleet of 145 cars. Of these, 80 cars were in his name while 65 were in his wife’s name. The price of these cars was declared around Rs 15 crore. When asked about keeping such a large number of cars, he told that his family has many businesses. His son is also in business. He is a taxpayer. If you have kept more than one car, then you have also paid tax.

Nab Kishore Das also had several licensed weapons. He had a .32 revolver, a double barrel rifle and a 12 bore gun. Apart from this, apart from Delhi, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, he had declared properties worth crores in Jharsuguda and Rairakhol.

The policeman shot…
Odisha’s Health Minister Naba Kumar Das was shot dead on Sunday, 29 January. Actually, he had reached a program in Brajrajpur area. After alighting from the car, a policeman shot him during the reception. The bullet hit his chest. He was airlifted and brought to Bhubaneswar for treatment. Doctors at Apollo Hospital Bhubaneswar tried to save him but failed. ASI Gopal Das, who killed the minister, has been arrested. It is being told that Gopal Das has been his PSO. Read the full story…
