Nagpur, 5 February (IAS). India’s Rahul head coach Dravid said the focus of the team’s preparation camp ahead of his four-game Test against Australia will be on defense and catching. He feels he will be important in his upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Everyone looks really good, he said. It’s good to see the test team get together again. There was a lot of whiteball his cricket during this month. Some of those boys are transitioning from the white ball series to the red ball series. It’s good for him that he’s sweating a lot at the net.
Dravid said in a video posted by BCCI on their social media accounts that fielding is very important even in test matches. Fielding is going to be a very important part of the series. The emphasis is on catching, slip fielding.
India are currently training at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur ahead of the opening test against Australia. Dravid further said it would be great for his team to be able to spend the week preparing for an important series.
We’ve had really good days, he said. We had some very long sessions. The amount of cricket we play doesn’t give us this kind of time, so I think it’s exciting as a coaching staff.
That said, you don’t have a lot of time to camp, or you have more time to work with players and get the chance to prepare for the test series.
India currently retains the Border Gavascar Trophy after winning the last three series against Australia in 2017, 2018-19 and 2020-21.
