A powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake and aftershocks hit Turkey and Syria, killing more than 6,000 people. Turkey’s Vice President Fuat Okte said that 3,419 people have died so far due to the earthquake in Turkey, while 20,534 people have been injured. Earthquake in Turkey and Syria has killed more than 6 thousand people and injured thousands. Rescue workers are facing a lot of trouble due to low temperature and about 200 aftershocks were felt. Meanwhile, a huge fire broke out in a part of the port in a city hit by the earthquake in southeast Turkey.
India sent relief material, medical team
India has sent relief material and medical teams in two planes to the people affected by the devastating earthquake in Turkey. Many countries of the world have extended a helping hand for relief work in Turkey and Syria. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said in a tweet, ‘India expresses its solidarity in this challenging moment.’ The first C-17 transport plane carrying a group of search and rescue personnel, specially trained dog squads, drill machines, relief supplies, medicines landed in Aden, Turkey this morning. A second IAF aircraft with similar material and personnel left for Turkey around noon.
