Project Cheetah: South Africa In the past few years, many cheetahs have been brought to India for rehabilitation. During the early period, 8 cheetahs were brought here for settlement and a few days later, 12 other cheetahs were also brought to the country. All these cheetahs have been released in Kuno National Park of Madhya Pradesh. If reports are to be believed, the plan to bring these cheetahs from outside in the country and settle them may suffer a setback. It may also happen that in the coming times, more cheetahs from South Africa will not be brought to India. There is a possibility of this happening because the Animal Rights Group has opposed this plan. According to media reports, the Animal Rights Group in South Africa has appealed to its government’s Department of Fisheries, Forests and Environment to stop further transfer of cheetahs to India.
