On one hand the central government has banned it. There was a controversy over its screening at Delhi’s Jamia University last night. TMC MP Mahua Moitra said that it is unacceptable for the government to ban the documentary. He shared the link of the video of the first session. Earlier the screening of this documentary was shown in Kerala and Hyderabad University. In this documentary, information related to Gujarat riots in 2002 has been given. At that time the then CM was Prime Minister Narendra Modi. To whom the Supreme Court has already given a clean chit. When the video surfaced, the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi had said that it is a propaganda video. It reflects the British colonial mentality. The government had ordered Twitter and YouTube to remove all links related to it. This is not the first time that any BBC video or BBC has been banned. Let us know when and how often it has been banned in India.

Earlier in 1970, Indira Gandhi’s government had banned it. At that time, a documentary series was presented by BBC presenting the wrong picture of India. After which the Government of India had banned the Delhi based office for two years. During the emergency of 1975, BBC had called its reporter back to the country. For the second time, BBC was banned after presenting the wrong documentary in 2015 on the 2013 Nirbhaya rape.
